Cool way to have KPI cards in Excel

Hey everyone! Have you ever tried creating a cool looking report with KPI cards? Normally that is not that easy in Excel. Luckily there is cool feature that allows you Pasting Data as Linked Image!

This little-known feature lets you create KPI cards that are not only visually appealing, but also update dynamically as the underlying data or formatting changes. In other words, you can create a KPI card that displays a specific metric or value, and as that metric or value changes, the KPI card will update automatically.

Here's how it works: first, select the range of data that you want to create a KPI card for. Then, go to the "Home" tab in the Excel ribbon and click on the "Copy" button. Next, go to the location in your worksheet where you want to insert the KPI card, right-click, and choose "Paste Special." In the Paste Special dialog box, select the "Linked Picture (Windows Metafile)" option and click "OK."

Here's a clip from my Excel Productivity Tips webinar that shows you how to use the Pasting Data as Linked Image feature:

Pasting Data as Linked Image feature is a great way to create dynamic KPI cards that can be added to your reports and significantly improve their looks and readability. You can customize the KPI card with formatting and styling options, and as the underlying data changes, the KPI card will update automatically.

I hope you found this tip helpful, and don't forget to try it out in your own Excel worksheets! Stay tuned for more Excel productivity tips in the future.
